Thesis Title: "Can You Feel It, Too?": Affect and Intimacy at Electronic Dance Music Events
About
Current work: Conducting new fieldwork for a postdoctoral project on “techno tourism,” that is, patterns of tourism to Berlin that are attached primarily to the city's electronic dance music scenes (e.g., techno, house, dubstep, etc). Indebted to Tobias Rapp's coinage, “the EasyJetSet” (2009), this project is entitled, “The Techno Jetset: Class, Tourism, and Mobility in Berlin’s Electronic Dance Music Scenes.”
Previous thesis project: " 'Can You Feel It, Too?': Affect and Intimacy at Electronic Dance Music Events." Fieldwork sites include: Chicago, USA; Paris, France; and Berlin, Germany. Defended on July 19, 2011; degree (Ethnomusicology) conferred on August 26, 2011.
